One important future development is ubiquitous computing. For a long time futurists talk about this but nowadays we see that more and more organisations see this as an important development.

The word ubiquitous computing is from Marc Weiser of Xerox PARC. For I know the word is first used in 1993 by Weiser. He believes that ubiquitous computing is the third generation of computers. The first generation is the main-frame computer and the second is the personal computer. The third generation ubiquitous computing is the generation where computers will disappear to the background of our lives and we will use a lot of computers without actively knowing. This is the world which I call: Transreality.
our highest ideal is to make a computer so embedded, so fitting, so natural, that we use it without even thinking about it (Weiser, Xerox PARC)
The clips below give some insights about ubiquitous computing. What will the future look like and what is the current state of ubiquitous computing? For the most loyal readers of Extend Limits most of the clips must be known but it is still a good visualisation of the ubiquitous computing trend. A trend which must be for every organisation an important one to follow because it will have a huge impact on the way we life, work and do business.
