It's amazing to see who science fiction is becoming reality. Well reality has caught up with the science fiction Borg.

We have all (well most of us) have seen Star Trek episodes where the borg assimilate man. Adding technology to the inferior carbon based life forms to enhance it's capability. Well reality has caught up with science fiction. Now, hooking up robotic arms directly to the brain is not only possible, but it's becoming mainstream. Replacing a lost arm with a robotic arm has been done at Rehabilitation Institute in Chicago. Claudia Mitchell has been given a robotic arm that can be controlled by thought alone. Seeing and following these new innovations, I think that within 5 to 7 years, neuro-enhancements are part of regular treatment a hospital will provide. But where will this end. Of course the military are 'supporting' these developments heavily. Just think about it, a soldier can control a robot warrior in combat zone, from the comfort of his chair. How about pilot's manoeuvring a rocket towards a target, with his thoughts. Or enhancing special forces with robotic implants that will improve the endurance or strength of the soldier. The latter ideas are not far fetched. In fact, DARPA is contracting scientists: Exoskeletons And then again, the prototypes are available from Berkeley University:
