The walkman, discman and todays MP3-player have always shut the world out. Just look at the people in cities with their aerphones in who are totally shut out from the world. But maybe the future will be different and those who listen often to music via their MP3-players will get connected with the world again. Because the MP3-player of the future will migrate with Global Positioining. So your MP3-player will be able to navigate you through unkown cities. It will even become you personal assistant because it will lead you towards point of interest special for you!.
Two universities (Swansea and Glasgow) have had funding for a three-year project to devellop the system.
Normally, when we listen to music through headphones, we do so to shut the world out. This system allows the world to seep in when users let it
The central question is if three years is not too long and if the MP3-player still exists after three years. Looking at the succes of the Ipod I think it will but the MP3 player will have a lot of extra functionalities. Just think about the connecting Ipod with you shoe.
