We cannot imagine a world where we are constantly being tracked and watched by our parents. But this is the world we are going to. More companies introduce services where parents can track and trace their kids. This all in real time. Just like the example we talked about earlier here on Extend Limits of Teensurance. A carinsurance which lets you track and trace your kids and the car they drive in. It is a absolute trend and a growing number of people buys devices which allows them to wacth their kids. All because of safety they give as main reason. I understand this and the marketeers have a new and willing target audience; the parents. So this must become a huge success. The children will have to get used to it because I think it will become mainstream. A company which is actively involved in these technologies is GTX.
Some of the examples which are talked about in the clip are:
Family locator: a parent phone which is are able to connect with four other phones. You can track these phone on the parent phone.
Wherify Wheriphone: for kids between 6 - 12 years old. A phone with only five buttons of which you deceide which numbers the kid is able to call. On the phone is also a button for emergency calls which directly contacts Emergency Services.
Mapquest: Only 4 dollars a month. Via GPS in the phone and Mapquest you can localize you friends and children.
Blackbox: Same idea as Teensurance where GPS is integrated in the car and sends you realtime specific information. Now available for about 500 dollar.
Smartwear Identity tags: RFID tags in clothes whicht contain information about the kid.
The main question...what about privacy? It is clear that technology and privacy will collide in the near future. And I think privacy will not win the battle.
