Halveer de armoede in de wereld: deadline 2015!!

In our luxury homes, food, clothing etc we forget that more than 2 billion people (that's more than one third of the total population) lives in extreme poverty. Extreme poverty means that you have less than one dollar to spend a day. 2 Billion people who do not have unlimited possibilities but have to fight for their lives every day. It is probably hard to imagine ( found it hard) but here are some extra facts about poverty for you: - One third of the human population has less than 2 dollars to spend a day - 880 million people have no access to medical care - Of all children in the world two third receives no eduction and no food All countries in the world signed a agreement to reduce poverty by the year 2015. For this they made an agreement on 8 goals. These goals are: - Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger - Achieve universal primary education - Promote gender equality and empower women - Reduce child mortality - Improve maternal health - Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases - Ensure environmental sustainability - Develop a global partnership for development Are these goals realistic? Well I think they are but well have to work on it. Financially it is even very easy to realise the goals. Just think about that we, on an anual basis spend: - 50 billion on cigarettes (Europe) - 11 billion on ice cream - 105 billion on alcohol - 8 billion on cosmetics (U.S.) - and more than 1000 billion on military.
