eMarketer did a
survey gedaan and showed in there report not very surising result about the future of the musicindustry. For already many yeras the musicindustry in under fire and still they do not succeed in changing the tide. The forecast of eMarketer is that the music industry will be down by 20 percent in 2011. The sells of music will decrease from 31.8 billion dollar in 2006 to 26.2 billion dollar in 2011.
The next few years will be critical as labels, online retailers, mobile carriers and artists attempt to find new models, or refine existing ones, in an effort to restore some of the gold and platinum shine that the business has lost in the digital era (Paul Verna, eMarketer)
Like I said. This is not a big suprise. For too many years the music industry earned to easy and to much. Now it is time to change. To change the way they earn money and to secure their future. Of course I am not a fan of illegal downloads. No of course not but the music industry must wake up and realise that their time has come if they don't change quickly.
Digital formats such as online downloads, ringtones, mastertones, full tracks delivered to mobile handsets and Internet and mobile subscription services are providing new and growing revenue streams ( Paul Verna, eMarketer)
