What will be the value of brands in the future? I think we will see more and more personalised brands and brands initiated by communities and not organizations. But brands are nowaday still popular. Members of Generation Y have 145 conversations a week about brands, which is twice the rate of adults, according to a new study.The most popular brands are Apple, Nintendo, Dr Pepper, Chevrolet and American Eagle. What will be the most popular brands in The Netherlands?
Teens are more socially enabled than someone working in an office 9 to 5, they have more multichannel conversations. [Aside from just hanging out], they are texting. They are online. They are on Facebook. On these social networking sites, they are likely to stumble across a marketing message and act on it.
Some results of the survey(U.S.):
- Generation Y is three times more likely to talk about a brand online than adults
- 61% of brand word-of-mouth mentions still happen offline
- 58% of teen conversations about brands are positive (versus 64% of adults)
- The most popular themes to talk about are Media and entertainment (75%) followed by sports, recreation and hobbies (68%), technology (67%), telecom (65%), and food and dining (62%).
