Three energy scenario’s till 2050 from Greenpeace

Greenpeace has produced three energy scenarios about energy. The scenarios contain visions about energy usage in the world, Europe and The Netherlands. The change of our climate demands an energy revolution. The revolution will be a change in the way we produce, distribute and consume energy. According to Greenpeace there are five key principles behind this revolution: • Implement renewable solutions, especially through decentralised energy systems • Respect the natural limits of the environment • Phase out dirty, unsustainable energy sources • Create greater equity in the use of resources • Decouple economic growth from the consumption of fossil fuels Scenario 1 Energy [R]evolution - worldscenario The worldscenario shows how CO2-emission worldwide can be reduced by 50% in 2050. This without the loss of economic progres. The solution is in clean energy sources and smart energy usage. Europe is able to get 80% of their electricity by a clean and environmental friendly way. Even the usage of energy will be 46% lower in comparison of the growth as we know today. Download Scenario 3 In this scenario new energy is possible without the traditional sources. The Netherlands are able to reduce their energy usage by 30 procent in 2020 and in 2050 by 80 percent.
