PWC presented its
annual CEO-survey in Davos last week. It is not surprising that most CEOs are confident in the potential to realise revenue growth in the short term (and somewhat lesser in the long term). Interesting is the major source that CEOs think will deliver this growth: technological innovation. It finishes just before improved customer services and access to and retention of key talent.
And I think the assessment is right. The great thing of technology innovation is it can help to deliver more than growth alone. It can help to reduce customer churn by improving the customer service which leads to growth. And it can help to improve the productivity of employees leading to both growth and improved employee retention. There is one major problem and CEOs in this survey recognize this: the talent that combines technical and business expertise. Organisations that are able to solve this tough problem will face a bright future.
