An appplication which allows users to see real-time the hotspots in night-life in San Francisco. But still it is only available for Blackberry users. They say that it will soon be also available for Iphone users.
The platform is patented and named Macrosense. This platform is able to quantify consumer behaviour and make "macro trends in spending and sentiment," real time visible. The way the software does this is by collecting large amounts of data. Data like time-stamped location data, meta data streams from GPS, Wi-Fi positioning, cell-tower triangulation, RFID, and other sources to provide what the company calls "predictive analytics." This kind of information is combined with historical data and with that the predictions are made.
Like I said the first use for consumers is a mobile map which gives a real-time insight in night-life hotspots in San Francisco. The success of this technology is greatly depended of the amount of users and the quality of data. This is where I find it difficult to predict if this will become a huge success. The added value must be huge before consumers will use such technology because it can also have impact on one privacy. Although all information is anonymous. Is this a successful future technology?
