Most companies and managers just focus on having the best quality of their products without a good vision of the future of the organization and the markets. Time for this process is a luxury for most managers while I think it has to be a key element of their work. We live to much in the present and make decisions in the present without a view on the future. This will not give organizations their unique value proposition. In a changing market entrepreneurial spirit and behaviour is key together with a flexible and actual vision of the future. Just like Michael Porter recently said.
A recent survey from Berenschot shows that half of the investigated companies sees product quality as a unique competitor advantage. 46 percent said that they take insufficient time to formulate a good vision en strategy. Porter says that to formulate a good strategy you have to take your time and that is is essential for the survival of an organization
