Batteries are a weak point of many electronic devices. They are not particular friendly for the environment and they need constant recharching (I'm actually reminded to recharge my mobile phone while typing this). Chinese designer Daizi Zheng proposes an alternative. He thought up a new concept for Nokia that uses sugary soda drinks as energy source. A bio battery uses the sugar to create energy, the enzymes are used as the catalyst. And while the battery dies out, water and oxygen are generated as the 'waste' of the energy production.
Critical people note that the production of a can of soda costs three or four cans of water and producing the cola also needs energy. OK, so this solution is not completely green. But it inspires to think of creative possibilities to generate energy. And it may lead to new conversations in the future. "I could use a Coke. Are you thirsty? No, but my phone sure is!"
