Powercast is the most promising company of 2007 but innovations and emerging technologies are going fast. Even very fast. Meet Witricity!

It is wireless electricity which is safe (no health risks) and it gives you the ability to power you mobile items without being in the vicinity of the charger. So it seems to go further than the technology from Powercast. But Powercast is already available and Witricity is not. But it will come in the near future.
You might think why all this attention on Extend Limits about wireless electricity. Well the reason is very obvious. We humans are trying to get rid of all the wires in our lives. But one wire remains in our lives. It is the electricity wire. Professor Sir John Pendry explains it as follows:
There is nothing in this that would have prevented them inventing this 10 or even 20 years ago. But I think there is an issue of time. In the last few years we have seen an exponential growth of mobile devices that need power. The power cable is the last wire to be cut in a wireless connection.

Microsoft Research heeft hoge ogen gegooid met hun 3d hologram dat ook nog tastbaar is. Nu hebben we al eerder over ontwikkelingen binnen de 'hologram wereld' gesproken maar Microsoft Research zet weer een belangrijke stap met hun Vermeer project.
