Maeda: 10 laws of simplicity

Some of you commented on the post about Negroponte to be interested in the story of John Maeda. Negroponte ends his short talk about trends and simplicity by introducing the true guru on simplicity named John Maeda. And like you know, here at Extend Limits we listen to the readers and those who leave comments. So here is a clip about the famous 10 laws of simplicity from John Maeda. In the the other clip Maeda tells about how he used the laws for designing new Reebok shoes.

The 10 laws according to Maeda are:
1. Reduce: the simplest way to achieve simplicity is through thoughtful reduction
2. Organize: organization makes a system of many appear fewer
3. Time: savings in time feels like simplicity
4. Learn: knowledge make everything easier
5. Differences: simplicity and complexity need each other
6. Context: what lies in the periphery of simplicity is definetly not peripheral
7. Emotion: more emotions are better than less
8. Trust: in simplicity we trust
9. Failure: some things can never be made simple
10. The one: simplicity is about subtracting the obvious and adding the meaningful
