One of the reasons that I never have visited Australia is the distance. Flying is not exactly my hobby and the thought of spending so much time in a plane works always discourages me. But that might change, the European Space Agency announced to fund research that has to results into a new generation of passenger jets. The new jet, called the A2, would be able to fly with a speed of Mach 5 and carry 300 passengers. A flight from Amsterdam to Australia would take only 5 hours. This will lead to a new era of time compression. The only downside is that the development company expects the plane to be ready within 25 years from now.
