@Greg, I think it is a very amusing clip. Did this in one night? Well great work!

Didn't think a cartoon I made one night when I had insomnia would spark conversations, but I'm glad people actually watch it.

People will always need physical places. I think libraries know perfectly well that they have to change and they do. Just visit a library once in a while and you notice that people come there to read the magazines they don't have at home, to study or to use the internet (yes, libraries are the best internet-café's!).
And if you would like to know if a modern library knows how to connect to the youth: the public library of Heerlen is hosting a LAN-party on their 100MB network, August 23th, so take a look then
If you would like to know more about the philosophy of a modern library, take a look at this TED-video from Seattle library architect, Joshua Prince-Ramus: http://www.ted.com/talks/view/id/49

@ Sven, I totally agree about the value of a library. But I still wonder if libraries will exist in the future. The last time I went to a library was several years ago and I then I also asked myself the question: who will visit the libary the most? Is it the young ones or the elderly? This because I think the future generation will get their information via the digital world. They also connect and have their social network online. So who knows anything about the trends in visitors for libararies?

Well, the library prediction is a little bit pessimistic New libraries like the ones built in Seattle and Amsterdam show that these institutions can happily coexist with developments like the internet. A library is not only a place to read books, most importantly it's a public community space (and one of the last). Libraries support not only access to information but also navigating that information and sharing information in a local context. Very valuable!

The reality of me wil onze wereld waarin we leven op een eenvoudige manier beschrijven.
