There is a shortage of creativity in this world and this will become even worse. This because we teach our children wrongly. Just have a look at some figures and the clip of the inventor of mindmapping Tony Buzan. If we believe Tony Buzan then the shortage of creativity is huge and will become even more worse. Just think about the aging of the population and with that creativity disappears. Because how older we get the less creativity we have. But we do something structural wrong in our educational system. According to Buzan, and I agree on that, we learn what to learn instead of how to learn. And with that we kill creativity.
We are teaching uncreativity(Buzan)
Some figures according to Buzan:
- creativity percentage of children is 90 - 95 percent
- creativity percentage children on primaire school is 70 - 75 percent
- creativity percentage secundaire school is 40 - 50 percent
- creativity percentage of graduates is 20 - 25 percent
- creativity percentage of adults is less than 10 percent
- 60 percent of all future jobs are based on creativity
- creativity is based on order and discipline
So the facts are clear. Everyday we loose our creativity in our schollbanks and with that we loose the solutions on todays problems. According to Buzan we must focus (especially the teachers) on how to learn instead of what. So teachers remember this and stimulate creativity of your students.
There is a decline in creativity throughout a child's educational progression (Buzan)
Please have a look at the lecture of Buzan, very interesting! (14 minutes)

@Jetse, dank voor je tip! De lezing van Ken vind ik erg inspirerend en kende ik. Ik denk echt dat we onze creativiteit dreigen te verliezen terwijl daar meer dan ooit behoefte aan is.
