We all know FaceBook and its succes. Now Coca-Cola wants to copy this succes for an initiative named Sprite Yard. A social networking initiative from Coca Cola in the cellphone world. Sprite Yard will be introduced in the United States this month and is already active in China. On Sprite Yard consumers can set up personal profiles, share photos and chat online with friends. This all by using their cellphones. This is also the biggest difference with the social networking sites we know and are available only via you computerscreen.
But there is also a relation with the products of Coca-Cola. By typing in codes from Sprite bottle caps consumer can redeem content like ring tones and short video clips (so called mobisodes). The even have prices like virtual clothing and furniture for the virtual online worlds.
Coca Cola wants with this initiative to be on the mobile phones of teenagers. With this they want to establish an omnipresent, on-the-go, everywhere relationship with teens. But of course there are some people who think differently about this.
Nobody wants to go hang out with Sprite. It takes a lot for a brand to ask that of a customer. You really have to be getting something compelling in return((Chad Stoller, CEO of emerging platforms for Organic).)
Well what do you think will this initiative be succesfull.
