Bucky paper looks like ordinary carbon paper but it could, and will, revolutionize the way many things are made.

It is already a hype for several years and many say it will have a great future. And now seems the time that it changes from hype towards reality and it will change the world. It will (for example) change air planes, TV, computers, cars etc.. What is it? It is called 'bucky paper'.
Like I said it is already a couple of years ago that the first samples of bucky paper were produced. And from that moment lot's of scientists and futurist followed the development of bucky paper. Nowadays science says that the most essential improvements are in sight and that commercial usage could arrive within a couple of years or even months...
Bucky paper looks like ordinary carbon paper (just have a look at the clip below) but like I said it could and will revolutionize the way many things are made. It is 10 times lighter and about 500 times stronger than steel when the sheets of bucky paper are stacked and pressed together. Unlike conventional composite materials, though, it conducts electricity like copper or silicon and disperses heat like steel or brass.
When we look at the future we see a lot of new materials and we see also a lot of materials which are common today disappear. I believe that nanotechnology will play a major role in replacing most building materials we use today.

Having something that you can hold in your hand is an accomplishment in nanotechnology

It's been said that concrete is the first nanotech material invented - and we've had it for ~3,000 years. Seems natural that we'll just keep making better and better nanotech materials. Such wonderful irony that carbon is the material of the future... best not to burn all that useful coal.-----

Microsoft Research heeft hoge ogen gegooid met hun 3d hologram dat ook nog tastbaar is. Nu hebben we al eerder over ontwikkelingen binnen de 'hologram wereld' gesproken maar Microsoft Research zet weer een belangrijke stap met hun Vermeer project.
