Microsoft Surface hits Las Vegas
The first initiatives with surface computing are slowly seeing the daylight. After AT&T retail initiative with surface computing now also Harrah's Entertainment Inc. has started a surface technology project.
They have launched surface computing via Microsoft Surface in a Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. The casino is named Rio. These first initiatives clearly show, in my opinion, that surface computing is something for the future. And I mean the near future.
With the surface technology in the Rio casino it is possible to order drinks, play games or even flirt with persons. Just have a look at the first clip how it looks like. The second clip shows also an initiative with surface computing.It is a concept of an interactive dining table from a idea of Disney Innovations. But still a concept...
People continue to be excited about the endless possibilities of Surface technology and how it can transform everyday scenarios, including the social and entertainment space (Microsoft Surface general manager Pete Thompson)
I think Surface computing will become a big hit. What do you think?

Leuk speelgoed, maar ik vind de usability nog erg tegenvallen. Zo eenvoudig als het bijvoorbeeld Apple is gelukt op je te laten interacteren bij het touchscreen van de Iphone, zo slecht werkt deze tafel nog. Lijkt mij dat ik zelf een flinke beta onder de handen heb gehad (op NextWeb congres), maar zo niet, dan komt het nooit goed. Rond entertainment / horeca verwacht in grote toekomst voor deze tafels. Persoonlijk ga ik toch voor de oprolschermen op projectie in de lucht. Dan kun je zelf staan en actief met de content omgaan (Minority Report zeg maar)——-

@Ton, ik heb nog niet met de tafel gewerkt dus top om de mening te horen van iemand die dit wel heeft gedaan. Dank je! Als de uasbility zo slecht is dan is dat zeker een aandachtspunt voor Microsoft. Hier hangt het succes van surface computing nauw mee samen. Ik denk dat we een combinatie zien van allerlei schermen in onze omgeving of het nu surface computing is of project in de lucht.
