Some things are really over the top. And when you ask me this is one of them. It is Yotaro and it is the first robot-baby!

He is so cute and acts like a real baby but it is a robot. It is Yotaro and this baby robot is designed to be like a real human baby. Why? Well to help people decide if they want to have a child. Yotaro prepares you to become a parent. Well that is what they think in Japan. I do not believe this. And I can tell you because I am a young proud father.

Yotaro is made with a purpose. Japan is heading for a centimetre crisis. The country with the highest life expectancy and the lowest birth rate is getting older by the day. So something has to be done. And of course this country searches the solution within technology and even within robotics. Logical because Japan is the only country with a robotic supermodel and uses robots to give the elderly some attention. So Yotaro is not the only robotic solution for a problem in Japan.

Yotaro weights 3,5 kilo and is 50 centimetre long. The body of Yotara equals that of a newborn.And of Yotaro can do a lot. It can have a cold, can cry and has more then 90 sensors which makes him react to touch and sounds. It is just like a real baby. The only thing I missed is if Yotaro you also have to change the diaper of Yotaro and how does this smell. This is one of the worst things of being a father.

I do not believe that robotics like this will help people decide if the y want a baby. What do you think?
